Today starts the 2019 EMS Week. During this week we give a special thanks to all Emergency Medical Service providers throughout the nation and especially to our dedicated volunteers here at Peekskill Community Volunteer Ambulance Corps. PCVAC was established back in 1964 starting out as a smaller, dedicated group of skilled people and has since grown substantially to 90 members +. These individuals are certified as Emergency Medical Technicians, Emergency Vehicle Operators, AHA CPR Instructors, Attendants, and Youth Corps.. Between these volunteers, they answer roughly 7-8 emergency calls a day, rounding out to approximately 2,800 + calls a year! They also volunteer a combined 1,000 + hours per month on average!! Last year your volunteer neighbors volunteered over 19,000 hours saving the City of Peekskill hundreds of thousands of dollars and answered a record call volume of 2,944 emergencies! We truly are blessed and thank all of our profession volunteers for their continued commitment not just to Peekskill VAC, but also to the community of Peekskill! *Please show not only our volunteers, but all the men and women who serve as EMS providers, thanks down below by commenting, or if you see any in person to thank them. Many have Facebook pages and will see the comments! It really does make our day! |
